We replaced the ignition lock cylinder, bought a new transponder blank key had it cut and it fits. So I was trying to start the car and it would start and then immediately shut off. It did that about six times. The next time I tried to start it I would not do anything, no crank, no nothing.

Did you have the new key programmed into the vehicles security system? If not that is the problem. The system does not know that the code in that key is valid. An automotive locksmith or the dealer can program it in. Because you have replaced the ignition cylinder and now have only the one key, the scan tool method is the only one that will work. The alternate method requires two valid keys that are used to program in the third "new" key.
