I have the vehicle listed above it is the 6 Wagon S. I performed transmission filter and transmission fluid replacement service, aftermarket headers installed and replacing oil pressure sensor. After all of the work was completed, my car would not shift into any other gear as selected with the exception of reverse, neutral and third gear.
The manual gear selection did nothing to move vehicle out of third gear. The check engine light would lit up as soon as the engine is started even after the CEL have been erased and cleared many times before the start up.

Mass airflow sensor and camshaft position sensor were replaced with the same test result, original mass airflow sensor was installed back for testing and still getting the same check engine code and still stuck in third gear with reverse gear being hard shifting/aggressive shifting into reverse.
These are CEL codes below. Battery voltage reading at the battery terminal after start up 14.30 volts.

1. Mass airflow sensor low input.
2. Camshaft position sensor left and right side.

Problem seems to be a wiring fault.
Check all wiring harness connectors for proper connections. Ensure all grounding points are clean and secured. If it is a ground wire fault, it should be related to the MAF and CMP sensor wiring.

"Battery voltage reading at the battery terminal after start up were 14.39 volts. "

If ground wires were at fault as you have mention, I would not be getting any good voltage reading of 14.39 volts at the battery terminal.
All of fuses in the engine compartment fuse box were check and their voltage reading verified.

Three CEL codes still showing on scanner which indicated a low voltage out put on the mass air flow sensor and two of the engine crankshaft sensors. These three parts were replaced with new one along with Mazda 6 transmission control module.
Still get the same three CEL reading and transmission issue of being stuck in third gear.

Vehicle were driven four hundred miles without any of CEL nor did my car have any bad habit of its transmission being stuck in third gear before, until the repair shop had completed transmission filter and transmission fluid replacement service, aftermarket headers installed and replacing oil pressure sensor.

Yep it sounds like one of two things could have happened. First is they left a ground wiring off of the engine somewhere or they bumped the transmission wiring connector which is where I would look first. The next thing is did they put the correct transmission fluid because Mazda takes a special fluid and if you don't use it the transmission will not work.

Here are the ground location and ground wiring diagrams

Check out the diagrams (Below)

Please let us know what you find.

Cheers, Ken
