Transmission does not shift

Vehicle seems to have some serious Transmission problems; it only stays it one gear when you drive it doesn’t up shift and downshift like a regular automatic transmission. I can no longer put it on D to drive I have to use my first or second gear to drive it. Thoughts on what it could be or do I need a transmission rebuild or replacement.

This can be a output or input shaft speed sensor. To be sure we need to scan the computer for codes, this guide can help us find out which. I have also included the location of the sensor in the diagrams below.

I actually had the computer scan and got the codes P0700, which is transmission control module malfunction and P0750, which is Shift solenoid A malfunction.

Nice work. If you have a P0700 code the module needs to be replaced which can make the solenoid code, go away, but if the solenoid is shorted it can cause the module to think it is bad. I would try the solenoid first because that is most common. Undo the wiring and use a voltmeter to see if there is no resistance or open circuit which means it is bad.
