I accidentally turned on the 4x4 on my vehicle and then put it on park and all of a sudden the 4x4 and gears were not working. Now the 4x4 handle is loose, it feels like it is not connected to anything and the gears do not work, and when I put it in park I hear a squeaking sound.
Can you please tell me what might have happened?
Thanks!

Check to see if the linkage fell off or broke may be in neutral and not allowing transmission to transfer power. Cold be a broken cable as well see picture.

I also have another problem besides that. The problem is that it is now stuck on four wheel drive high and now it wont move from park to any shift.
Is there a solution to that sir?

Scan for codes it may be the transmission range selector switch also check fuses in car and under hood it may be the shift lock is stopping it that could also be from a broken cable at shifter.

I tried something and all of a sudden the gears work and the squeaking sound went away and it works fine now, but it is still stuck in four wheel drive high. It is safe to drive like that? With the four wheel drive high?

You can drive it like that, but I would bet it is a cable problem. It would not go on eway though.
