Have a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. Started to have trouble last week going up a hill like it wouldn't automatically shift into the next gear. Looked at transmission fluid and it looked dirty so we got that flushed and helped it a little but still not right and will not go past 2nd gear. Based from this would you have any idea or thought on if this is a full on transmission issue, or something cheaper and easier to fix like replacing the clutch, or maybe something completely different? Thanks ahead of time, and your help is appreciated.

You don't have a clutch with an automatic transmission. When it stays in second gear, that's "limp mode" that allows you to drive slowly to a repair shop without needing a tow truck. Also, there will be a diagnostic fault code in the computer. You'll likely have to find a mechanic with a scanner that can access that computer to read the codes. Those will indicate the circuit or system that needs further diagnosis.
