I have an e-150 van, 351w, automatic (C-6). I had the transmission rebuilt about eight to ten years ago, but have only put about 200 miles on it since then. The van has sat for the last three to five years, I had engine rebuilt and when I tried to drive it, I noticed that it was skipping second gear. When you start to slow down it sounds and feels like it is banging into gear. Please help me get it running again. Thank you, M

Hello,

It sound like the transmission vacuum modulator line fell off can you check the vacuum source and connection to the modulator?

Cheers, Ken

Hi Ken,
I checked the line to the vacuum modulator and changed out the modulator and found it not to be my answer. I was driving around and it seems like there is a governor on it, went to accelerate it is trying to shift with no luck. Can you give me some other pointers?
Thank you,
Mark

Is there a throttle pressure rod on this van? Sorry it has been awhile since I have worked on one. How does the fluid look and smell?

It sounds like something inside the transmission let go like an accumulator seal, might be time for a rebuild. I would try a new vacuum modulator just to see what happens might be worth a try. Make sure the vacuum supply is good.
