My car is a touring edition. I have been having transmission issues currently it has no codes, but it did the usual p0700 and then it showed p0732 and p0734 (gear ratio issues with 2 and 4) which is was in limp mode. I drove to in limp mode to work about three miles only three days then let it sit. Next time a week later, I drove it in limp mode (saving money to take it to shop) and leaving work, it went into first gear for about ten seconds (until rpm went to a certain level) and then went into neutral. Seemed like neutral basically no wheel traction and just revved. If I stopped the car it would go into reverse no problem and then into first until rpm's got up enough to go to second and nothing. However, cannot go back to first either back into neutral. I checked the fluid level it seemed low, added a half quart of Mopar and nothing. No codes either for now. No engine light like before. When it started in limp mode the first time 2014 I took it to a transmission shop turned out to be false alarm. They cleared the codes ran good for over a year then it went back into limp mode in 2016 March. Turned out battery was not good enough any longer bought new battery. Fixed for another year now, it went again in limp mode about two months ago. I reset codes (using battery method) and it cleared for a few weeks each time though I cleared they stayed less and less. About a month ago, it seemed intermittent until finally it seemed the gas controlled the shifting. If I soft peddled it it would shift from first to second to third and to fourth no issues however, f I gunned it it would down shift. Then, I started driving it like that most times returning to limp mode, just had to restart the car to get limp mode off and then soft pedal it again then that ended. Finally it went from limp mode to just driving from first to neutral (no wheel traction) and no gears. Just revving engine now and then power loss even to the point of draining my battery. Last time towed driver had to jump battery to get it into neutral after this revving situation left me stranded on the road side.

Hello,

It sounds like you have a transmission shaft speed sensor that is out. This would make the car go it limp mode. Here is a video and a diagram (below) that will give you an idea on how to fix it.

Please let us know what happens, we are interested to see what it is.

Cheers, Ken
