So I was driving home from work, and I hit a patch of ice, and it flung me off the road into some muddy gravel. I noticed I lost a lot of transmission fluid when a tow truck came under the car. We had to replace the transmission solenoid cover which had a big chunk taken out of it. Check engine light on code read p0848. Cleaned sensor but didn't replace it. So, I drove it a day and a half. Then it started shifting poorly, so I pulled over and I lost a lot more fluid again, enough that I had to put a full quart in to get it up to the dipstick. But now I don't know where the leak is coming from. When this originally happened, I called the closest mechanic to where I was at. And it turned out to be not very good because I had to order all the parts myself and I paid over $600 for the guy to do nothing but make promises that he didn't keep and lied. That he ordered parts but didn't. He said he was going to take 2 hours he said he had ordered a Fender, lie. A sensor, which I believe he just claimed he didn't get a new one, and the solenoid gasket cover. I had to pay for all separately. But he kept my car for over a month. And didn't do anything until I gave him the part and it took him 20 minutes to slap it on. He didn't clean any of the mud off. It doesn't seem like, so I don't know if the gasket sealed, right. I know this is a whole other issue, but I'm just venting.

I understand, car repair can be frustrating especially when people don't do what they say or just give you the run around. We need to get the car to a good garage to see where the fluid leak is coming from first. With a large leak the transmission will never work correctly.

The P0848 trouble code refers to Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor/Switch "B" Circuit High.

This code can be caused by low fluid. Here is an exploded view of the transmission to help see how it works and where the leak may be coming from. Check out the images (below). Please upload pictures or videos in your response of any problems so we can see what to help you with.
