Replaced the solenoid and the brake switch. Also checked all the fuses.

Hi and thanks for using 2carpros.com.

I feel the two aren't related. However, one never knows for sure.

First, are the brake lights working? If so, have you confirmed power to the shift interlock actuator you replaced? Also, confirm fuse 34 under the dash is good.

Take a look at the wiring schematic I attached. Note where the ground is located for both brake and actuator. Confirm that it is in good condition and not loose, corroded, or damaged. (specifically G202) black wire behind left side of dash.

Also, here are the directions specific to replacing the actuator. Take a look through it and check to see if you missed any of the steps. The remaining pictures correlate with these directions.

Removal and Installation
1. Remove the steering column assembly.
2. Remove the insert plate and shift lock actuator.
1 Remove the bolts.
2 Remove the insert plate and shift lock actuator.
3. NOTE: The shift lock actuator clip is an assembly aid for the assembly plant and does not need to be replaced in the field.

Remove the insert plate from the shift lock actuator.
Remove and discard the shift lock actuator clip.
4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

As far as not being able to shift into 4 low, make sure the linkage on the shift linkage to the transfer case is tight and not out of adjustment, damaged, or bent.

Let me know if any of this helps.

Joe
