After I start the truck and press on the brake pedal to shift out of Park, it does not shift. I have to shut off the engine, turn key to 1st click, shift transmidsion into neutral, then start the truck. Why is the brake pedal not talking to the trnasmission? And how do I fix it?

Brake lights work? And if its collumn shift the brake switch doesnt talk to the computer. The lock is in the ignition switch which is why turning it to the first click works.

I had this same problem on a 2003 F250. Off the front of your brake fluid reservoir there is an electrical switch that is activated when you press the brake pedal. The o ring breaks down and begins to leak. This shorts out the switch. Your truck should be covered under a recall for this problem. This problem is what what causing fires under the hoods.
