While driving my car a minute in I was going up a small hill. The gas started to not work, and the dash said “shift to neutral” I shifted to neutral, and nothing happened. After I turned the car off and went to restart, it sounded like it was trying to start but couldn’t and became very shaky. After about 30 mins I tried again, and everything was just fine and o could drive again.

Hi,

That is an interesting one. At first, I want to say a faulty crankshaft position sensor because of the delay in restarting it, but I'm questioning myself.

How has the vehicle been since this happened? Has it occurred again or are there any other symptoms?

Here is what I recommend. This is a somewhat new vehicle that has several control modules (computers). We really should have the can-bus scanned to see if there are codes.

CAN stands for controller area network. Basically, the different modules are tied together via a few wires. This type of scan will retrieve codes regardless of the module storing them.

Here is a link that explains how it is done:

Let me know if that is something you can do or have done.

Take care,

Joe
