Will a 2001 Xterra 4x4 transmission fit in a 2003 Xterra (not a 4x4 )?

Good evening.

Yes, but if you want the 4 wheel drive to work, you will need the 4 wheel drive transmission.

Are you planning on keeping the 4 wheel drive?

Welcome to 2CarPros.

They are two different style transmission. Being one is for 4wd, the housing will be different. Plus, I suspect the internal electronics will be different as well. I only recommend a direct fit part for this. Otherwise, you may end up having TCM (transmission control module) issues.

Let me know if you have other questions.

Take care,
Joe
