it does engage in reverse but no movement?

Hi guys,,, got automatic, 6 cyl, transmission runs forward fine, it does engage in reverse but no movement,, you can feel it slowly shift into Reverse,,, if you press the gas,, it will creep backwards a few feet and stops,, any ideas greatly appreciated,, thanks,

Hello,

Can I ask if the reverse lights are working? if not I would replace the gear range sensor on the side of the transmission here is a diagram to help. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what happens.

Thanks for that tip, I had an extra transmission so I took the sensor off to replace it with the one on the truck and it worked thanks for your help. I love this site.
