Hello,

I just recently purchased a '85 Tercel that is in pretty good condition - it is an automatic with around 236,000 kilometers on it. I was driving it around today, and noticed that the temperature gauge is slightly high (below the 'warning' lines, but a bit higher then the middle). I know from new Toyotas that the temperature gauge should be in the middle, but this was slighter higher then that. I checked the coolant (level okay) rad, (enough water) and the oil should be changed within the next week or so. Does anyone know from experience if this is a normal temperature level reading, and if not, can anyone suggest what my next move would be? Would the rad need to be flushed, or would it be a problem with the water pump? It's frustrating, b/c I didn't spend a lot on the vehicle, in hopes that it might last me a few months without major problems (student car!) And really don't have much left for repairs. If there are any suggestions or comments, I would really appreaciate any help. Thank you so much.
