I went to go out yesterday and the car started fine but as I got to the end of the drive it coughed and stalled and wouldn't start again. It has been fine until now, doesn't miss or anything. The choke was out so I pushed it in and thought it was just flooded so left it for a while and tried again but no go. It is trying to start, just won't fire. Spark from coil is good. Leads look good but spark plug spark appears a little weak.
Plenty of fuel. Hubby has cleaned up the spark plugs and re gapped them but sill nothing. It sound lively enough, just won't go

Cranking over and will not start:

Get a helper disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine at least 3/16 away from ground -have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel related problem, check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter/fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light. No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil packs, coil's resistances, distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, cam and crank sensors and computer Note: If it doesn't apply disregard it.

My dads car had a similar problem but he had changed the steering columns and couldn't change the barrel so he had trouble starting it so in the end I suggested putting the old key in the little plastic surround in the on position and starting it with the new key (which had now with the new key had disabled the immobilizer temporarily) and it had worked since then. And I know this is an old post but I hope it helps anyone in the future!
