I have a 1987 toyota pickup 2.4 efi 4x4 with 190,000 miles on it. It will turn over start then it will run for like 2 or 3 seconds then it will die. Why is it doing this?

What I want you to do is start up the truck and let it die out like ususall after it dies out hook up a fuel pressure tester. If your getting no fuel pressure change pump.

Also check the EGR whether its crack opened by carbon.

If your pressure is up to specs. And it dies out. Try this and observe the engine's behavior. Get a jumper wire hook it up at the coil positive terminal and to the battery positive post start the truck and see what happens. Then report back to us.

Beautiful. How much voltage are you getting at the fuel pump connectors, if nothing check for a fuel pump shutoff switch and make sure it is not set off also check the relay and fuse. If those are good there may be a cut or cracked wire shorting out.
