What is importance of a flywheel?

My car makes noise or vibrates when I drive it. A mechanic told me the problem is a flywheel that needs replacement. It is expensive?

What effect will it have if I do not replace it?

Hi there,

I would ask the mechanic why the flywheel needs replacing. In over 35 years in this industry i have never had a faulty flywheel, i would be looking a bit deeper into your vibration problem first.
