2003 Toyota Corolla air wont always work

I have my A/C not coming on each time I turn it on. Then it will go on after I go for some time.
It goes on when the knob is not on.

If AC is coming on when switch is not on, then switch is bad, if air is cold and compressor is not cycling on and off repeatedly, then I would suspect switch or possibly connection to AC clutch.
