This engine uses a timing chain, which should not need to be replaced under normal driving conditions.
I would check the belts, for cracks/excessive wear. Take it to any autoparts store and have the PCM scanned for any error codes (free service).
Inspect all vacuum lines for any leaks.
Inspect the axle seals for any leaks, inspect the CV boots for any cracks/punctures/grease leaking.
Raise car, put on stands, grasp each wheel, pull/push both horizontally and vertically looking for any play which may indicate worn ball joints, tie rods, control arm bushings or bearings.
Check all fluid levels.
You can also remove valve cover and measure valve clearance.
