although my car is driving fine and there is no problem with my waterpump, i was wondering if there is anyone who might know what the average life of a water pump, especially for my car. also, when a water pump starts to go, does it go all at once, or is there usually some advance warning signs such as water leaking before it totally craps out.

The water pump has a small "weep hole" that is visable from above. Coolant in the weep hole would indicate a bad seal or bearing and the pump would need to be replaced.

As far as longevity, I have had the original water pump in two Toyota's for almost 15 years.
