What would cause a car to die while driving and then I would put it in park to start it up I have no problem starting it up?

When it dies, do you lose ALL power, do the wipers work, radio? If so it is likely ignition switch related.

Other possibilities are the ignition module, fuel pump.

It could be a faulty fuel pump relay or an ignition problem like the crank sensor.

If tach drops to zero, I would suspect the ignition, the loss of an ignition reference will shut pump off.

Do you hear the pump shut off?

The best way to diagnose is to use a portable scan tool hooked up to diagnostic port and record or observe engine data when event occurs.
This is the best course of action rather than throwing parts at it and hope you hit the right one.
