1999 Toyota Corolla 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

hey guys love what you do by the way, but I need some expert advice I have a transmission leak coming out the side of the spot where the passenger cv joint goes into the transmission also I checked the fluid and it looks pretty bad should I get my hand on a new car or should I try to repair it I have a high mechanical experiance in older vehicles but limited tools?

That would be the shaft seal a common item to leak. Pulling axle will be the job seal easy to replace. As cfor trans fluid easy enough to drain and refill.

Ya im going to diy but I have to drive it from portland or top seaside or for a better selection of tools also need to get a idea of how that shaft comes out

Need to remove wheel. Cotter pin and axle nut, have assistent hold brake. Then remove tie rod then lower ball joint from spindle remove caliper and wire out of way. Then while pulling out on hub push axle free of hub, Then use pry bar to pop inner CV from trans.

Start by having the vehicle serviced. New plugs/wires/distributor cap and rotor arm. Also use a good fuel cleaner in the tank
