Engine Cooling problem
1993 Toyota Corolla Automatic

When I start the car the thermometer gauge on the dash is not moving after a few minutes driving its starts rising and after about 10 minutes it is almost half way. It stays at half way for the entire journey. Is this normal? How can I fix it if it is not?

Pretty much normal. The needle should be just below halfway. At about halfway or a little above the cooling fan should kick on.

As these cars age the gauges get a little inaccurate, caused by increased wire resistance due to heat cycles and simple age.

You should drain and flush the cooling system every two years. If you replace the thermostat use a Toyota part and make sure the thermostat vent hole points at 11:00
