I have a 1990 auto toyota camry sedan about 130,000 miles (198,000 km) 2.0 litre
it is not starting, when you turn the key you get a clicking noise
if you rapidly turn the key multiple times it will start, and it also at other times starts perfectly fine.
it has a new starter, new radiator, new alternator, new battery (all within 2 years) but is due for a timing belt soon. Wondering if the timing belt may be the cause of the problem?
not sure if its related also but often when switching from reverse to drive the power cuts out and you have to restart the car.

The problem is not the timing belt, it is in the starting system. IE. Iginition switch, battery, starter, connection.

Turning the key back and forth may be ironic. You need to see if power is getting to the starter. I would make sure all connections to and from the battery are clean and tight.
