Replaced timing belt, no power

The water pump went out on my 1990 camry v-6. I replaced the pump and installed a new timing belt since I had to take the old one off anyway. The car starts fine but the rpm's will not go above 4000 and the car comes to temperature quickly. What could be the problem?

Go back and check the timing belt and make sure you installed it correctly. Just being off one or two teeth on the timing marks will effect the timing and your lost of power. Recheck the cam and crank shaft marks to see if they line up right.
Good luck Backyardmechanic
