What is the indicator that my car's oil pump is bad? It cranks up and runs just fine then 10 minutes later it acts like the oil pump has stop moving oil. The oil light will come on and then it will start to tap in the top of the engine. Thanks, Mike

Hi there,

This sounds like low oil pressure, best check the pressure with a mechanical gauge, if low, you may have a pump or bearing problem.

Do the oil pumps in the Camry's go bad all at once or would they stretch out the process. What type of bearing would cause the oil light to come on?

Hi there,

Oil pumps normally fail over a period of time, they usually just wear out, relief valves can fail at any time, if the control spring fails or sludge binds up the valve, main crank & cam bearings if worn will reduce oil pressure, nut this is normally also a long term issue.
