My first guess would be the engine and trans rubber mounts. Easy way to check this is to have a person changing gears reverse and drive back and forth and watch for engine shift. If engine jumps front and back during shift, time to replace mounts. Normal wear due to rubber wear and drying out. If not replaced, flexing can break the exhaust pipe at flex connection and that will cost even more to replace since they are sold with a catalytic converter.
