I had a rebuilt engine put into my 1998 Camry. After install, there was a noise/vibration at 1800-2100 RPM. The shop could not find the cause and another rebuilt engine was installed. I have the same problem with the second engine. I have had it at two shops and neither can find the cause.

Start here:

Raise car, put on stands. Grasp tire and push/pull both horizontally and vertically, if any movement then possible wheel bearing, ball joint, tie rod, control arm bushing.

Check CV boots for any signs of leakage or cuts/rips in rubber boot.

The tie rod ends must be removed and this will affect alignment "toe", so car alignment should have been checked after install.

Motor and transmission mounts should also have been inspected for wear.

Look under car for transmission drain plug, if there is a second drain plugto the rear of trans plug, this is differential drain. They MUST refill differential to proper level, since removing CV shafts will cause most of fluid to leak out.

The noise/vibration occurs when the car is idling or moving.

Check all the motor mounts, I would also check condition of plugs.

Other possobilities are that the torque convertor flex plate was not properly torqued.

Remove flexplate inspection plate and recheck.
