Engine Cooling problem
1996 Toyota Camry 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 142k miles

I have just replaced a motor and the coolant system will not circulate. The heater core hoses are cold, the top rad hose gets worm to hot, but the lower hose is cold.

Everything new, pump, thermostat. Replaced pump anyway with new again. Checked bloack water travel with a water hose. Water flow goes through to tubes and comes out the lower rad hose.

I think the water pump is not working, but can not find why? What could be the problem that would cause no pressure to build?

Hi there,

Water pumps are fairly good it that they dont give any trouble, I would be checking for a faulty (new ) thermostat, and making sure that you dont have a big air lock in the system, start filling with a heater hose off, and when water flows through core re fit and frill.

Try this first.
