We are replacing the radiator and the mechanic suggests flushing the engine. Is this a good idea or are we opening pandoras box?

Well it is good to flush out all the old coolant. But you have to remember. When you flush all the gunk out you are also flushing out all the gunk that might be plugging up a leak. HTH.

NOT GOOD TO FLUSH ENGINE ONLY IF YOU ARE TO REBUILD. FLUSHING MIGHT CAUSE PRESURE TO BLOW BY RINGSEAL AND THAT PANDORAS BOX WILL OPEN.
