I am having an engine installed in my car as my other engine went out. Or they put the used engine in that has 100,000 miles on it. I want to have them put a timing train kit in it. How much would it cost me with the engine already out of the car? it should be cheaper, correct?

This is a picture of my timing chain cover, and I would like an opinion as to whether you think I should replace it, the engine has 100,000 miles on it. It is not in the car right now. it is going to be installed $1,000.00 to do it. now $2,700.00 to $3,000.00 to do it if the engine is back in the car. I need an opinion on whether you think I should replace this now while it's a third of the price?
I need to make a decision on this by tomorrow.

Hi,

At this point, I would personally do it, but by looking at it, things appear fine. In most cases, a timing chain will last the life of the engine.

So, if you are like me, I would do it as preventative maintenance. However, it really doesn't appear to need to be replaced.

Let me know if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe
