This car has keyless entry and its remote does not open or lock the car, even if the car key is inside the car. It does not get the signal unless you put it in the keyhole. I have changed the key fob battery, but it persists. Please, what should I do next? I have even programed the car key severally.

Just to be sure the only way you can unlock the door is with the key in the door and turning it or the key has to be in the door as the only way the remote door will unlock? Meaning are you putting the key in and then pressing the unlock button on the key to get it to unlock or are you just using the key manually to unlock the door?

Either way the place to start is to check for codes because I suspect we have a body control module issue.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/checking-a-service-engine-soon-or-check-engine-light-on-or-flashing

So, I suspect we have some open circuit codes that would cause this.

Basically, what happens is the BCM is not getting or ignoring the command from the key to open the door.

So, I am attaching the info below but let's start with the codes and we can go from there, but I suspect we are going to have to check the power at the PCM from these circuits.

Thanks

I thank sir for your sincere effort towards helping me to solve this problem, but the answer is totally off from the problem I am having with the said car. This car only starts when the keyless remote is put in the car remote hole outside that the car does not detect the key and none of the key commands work, you only see key ID:NO on the dashboard when you click on the start button if the key is inside the car but not on the special hole made for it in the car.

Then I am still not understanding what the issue is. You are saying that none of the key functions work and it only starts if you put the key in the door lock cylinder outside the vehicle?

So, the engine will not start with the key inside the vehicle?

I just don't understand due to the terms that you are using. What is the key fob compartment? Is this the door lock on the outside of the door?

Maybe it is best if you get a video of what you have to do in order to start the vehicle.

Also, try using the key fob itself to push the start button. Meaning don't hold it in your hand and use your finger to push the button. Use the actual key fob to push the start button and see if the engine starts.
