The climate control lights are completely off. When you turn the AC on/off the light does not turn on, defroster the same will not light up.

When you turn the fan on it blows to all the speeds, five of them.

When you select the cold temperature you only get the heat. When you select the heat, it works perfectly fine.

Can you help fix the AC?

Hello, I am Danny.

A few questions first. How long has it been since/if refrigerant added? Do you notice if the A/C compressor cycles when the system is turned on and engine running? Let us know and we will be happy to help. I have also attached a few links for you to view. Hope this helps. Thanks for using 2CarPros.

Hi Danny -

How long has it been since/if refrigerant added?
This has been going on for couple of month (four plus month), I just parked the vehicle since I have another one I was using. But then I decided that I wanted to work on the issue and fix it myself if I can.

Do you notice if the A/C compressor cycles when the system is turned on and engine running?
Yes, the A/C compress cycles when the system is turned on and the engine running.

Yesterday, I added some Freon, however before I could do that, I connected the gauge and when I checked the low pressure reading it was in red at 150psi.
I proceeded by reducing the pressure all the way to 0 psi, then added some Freon up to 45 psi.

Hello again.

Have you checked the Heater-A/C control unit? I understand functions work. But are you adding the refrigerant correctly?

Hi Danny,

To be honest, I would be lying if I said that I am adding the refrigerant correctly. I attempted to follow the direction as best as I can but I cannot say with certain that I am doing everything 100% correctly.

Hello again.

Well no harm in trying to do it yourself. The problem is A/C systems are quite touchy being over/under filled with refrigerant. All systems have a specific fill limit. Being both under and overcharged will result in poor performance. Best bet is to use a professional machine evacuate system-see if it holds a vacuum-and them fill to specific system capacity. Hope this helps and thanks again for using 2CarPros.
