The heater is not getting hot. I have changed the thermostat and it did not get any hotter. I removed the radio/control panel. Checked the control moter and it is moving, it's full travel. The next thing I am going to try is to flush the cooling sys. If this does not work what's next?

Heater core need to be flushed just make sure you block the bypass hose under the hood by the firewall. Check out this guide it will help you.

Check for both heater hoses to be hot, you may have an air lock in system. This guide will show you how to fix it.

Lookon places like thermostate housieng or pipes at top of engine, get eth engine warme and here shold be screws that you can loosen to get rid of the air. It could bea n actuator in theheater tha isn't opening that waswhy I asked if both hoses are hot if they are then it's an actuator. In heater. They contorl direction and temp it could also be a vacuum leak if yours system is vacuum check for ahose off going to firewall or under heater control

Last weekend, I lost all heating ability in my 99 Taurus wagon. Now, every morning, there is a cllicking sound behind the dash at the temp control panel area. My water temps seem normal and radiator level is good. I haven't noticed any extra moisture within the passenger cabin. Should I try replacing thermostat first, or start with the heater core, or something else?

Sounds like it may be the blend door actuator. It is located below the pass side of the dash, you will have to remove the sound guard and the front right side of the center console (if so equipped). Verify this is where the noise is coming from first. If so remove 4 screws and remove it. Try to work the door by hand to be sure it isnt broken internally. If the door works (air will get hot) the it is probably just the actuator

Hi, I have a 96 Taurus, 3.0 V6 with 140,000 miles. Car runs good, just no heat. I have noticed in the forum there are other people with similar complaints that have replaced the heater core/tstat with no change. Also, system builds pressure with hoses hot at the radiator and fire wall, intakes and output. Is it possible its the heater control valve?

Sounds like it or a flap/blend door stuck closed-or a cable problem. This video should help us fix it.
