Transmission intermittently not shifting properly

Truck starts fine, sometimes it will not change gears, sometimes it switches perfectly. When I start driving it kind of has trouble switching from 1st to 2nd, and from 3rd to 4th, and it goes high rpms and gets louder as it's trying to shift.

Depending on which transmission you have, this sounds typical of a sticking throttle valve cable. Check it for free movement as you work the throttle by hand. Check out the diagrams (Below). Let us know what happens and please upload pictures or videos of the problem.
