I was driving home from work. I made it two house away from my House and came to a stop sign where I had to stop. While coming to a full stop I heard a Scratching Crunching Noise. Then My Car Just Died.

When I tried to Turn the car back on I was able to get the engine turning but it wouldn't Start. I was able to get that REVREV REV Boise but no bang it's started at the end.

I was able to push it home. When I did I checked the spark Plugs/ Checked oil (Which was low but put more in)/Checked other fluids/ I have tried to remove the Oil Fill cap to see if anything is turning under the valve cover. But I can't see anything. I think I am getting Fuel because of the Reving.

Any Ideas or things that could help? Thank you.

Hi mwind27,

Thank you for the donation.

To check if the camshafts are moving, you would have to remove the valve cover. However to check without removing it, a compression test would be the easiest way to know if the engine is working correctly.

At bottom of post, click the " First Things To Check " link to get an idea what to look for and let me know what you find.

Does it sound like a good possibility that it could be the time belt?

I know you can't tell for sure with out being here but have I diagnosed the problems correctly so far.

Also thank you I will be glade to look in to your FAQ first inspection area.

Our database does not have much information about mechanical aspect of the engine but if equipped with timing belt, it is possible for it to be bad.

Kep me updated of the checks.
