Looking at buying a 2006 Mini Cooper with 72000 miles on the clock.

It has one MOT advisory as of right now which says "Suspension components corroded".

I was wondering if anyone would be able to provide further information on what exactly I'd be looking at in terms of repairs and costs?

Many thanks

Hi,

I assume you are in the U.K? If so, these are pretty common. We do not have these types of notices in the USA but they are useful but could be alarming for no reason.

Basically, someone inspected the vehicle and found some rust on the suspension components. There is no way to know how much this would cost because we don't know what component it is on and if it is only surface rust or if the component is rusted through and needs replacing.

Usually, this is just surface rust and is not an issue but on an older car like this it could be more serious. Unfortunately, the only way to know is to inspect the suspension and see what is needed. However, surface rust is pretty common on these parts because they are exposed to all the salt and water during the seasons.

Let me know if you need ore info and we can go from there. Thanks
