Wheel bearing replacement

Grinding noise when in reverse and wheel is turned to the left. Also, some squeeking when making a slow left hand turn. I've been told I need a new wheel bearing in the front passenger side.

Is this a repair an inexperienced person can do? (Firestone quoted me $300 to so this job. The car is barely worth that.)

THIS IS NOT A JOB FOR THE D.I.Y. $300 FOR THE JOB WOULD BE CHEAP, CONSIDERING THE COST OF THE HYDRAULIC PRESS AND BEARING PLATES. IF YOU DID IT YOURSELF.
