Subaru Outback Legacy Ignition

Subaru Outback Legacy 1998 2.5 Liter 150K miles. I am suddenly able to move the auto shift lever out of park with the engine off and without pressing the brake pedal. Also, I am unable to remove the key from the ignition. Needless to say I now have safety and security concerns.

Sounds like you need a new ignition switch.If it is stuck in on position,t he shift lock could be disabled. Unhook the lockout solenoid on the shifter and see if the key returns
