Hi, I have a 1994 Subaru Legacy 4 door, 6 cylinder car with 127,000 miles on it and I'm having trouble with the shifter. When I try to shift out of park into drive it doesn't want to release, I have to try several times before it works. What is my problem? Thanks, Brenda

That could be either the switch on the brake pedal, the shift lock control unit, or the solenoid on the shifter.First check fuses 1, 2 , 12. Then test for power at the white/black wire on the brake switch when brake is applied. If ok, then test for power at the solenoid on the shifter when brake applied, should have power to the red/green wire. If not it most likely is the Shift Lock Control Unit
