So I bought this vehicle this month. Project car to better educate myself. First week of ownership took it to an auto shop where they ran a full diagnostic check on it. I was complaining about It not so consistent smooth shifting. It's a little jumpy now and then. It's automatic. They told me everything was okay, but too much oil could be the problem. Also needs new wheel bearings and tires, that's it. So I changed the oil with correct amount/type. Is smoothed out the jumping for a little while.
The following Monday I get a check engine light and the temperature gauge doesn't seem to be working.

Update: Fixed the check engine light, gas cap code.

Still need help on the jumpy shifting.
Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
I added a video, hopefully that help.

Hi,

For some reason, the video didn't upload. Regardless, when you serviced the transmission, how was it done? For example, was the pan dropped, the filter replaced, and then put back together, or was it power flushed to replace all fluid?

My next question is this. Did the shop scan the can-bus system? CAN stands for controller area network. Basically, all the computers/modules are tied together via a few wires. If there is a fault, a basic scanner may not identify it. However, a scanner with can capabilities will retrieve codes regardless of the module.

Here is a video showing how it's done:

If that hasn't been done, try it and see if there is a different module on the vehicle storing helpful codes.

Last, when you say jumpy, do you mean it feels like it slips, hiccups, or how would you best describe it?

Let me know.

Joe
