2008 Subaru Impreza Shifting very hard

It shifting very hard from gear into the next and have to shut off the engine to get it into reverse.. There is no grinding going on and the clutch is disengaging as you press in pedal but still hard to get into gear.It does however shift into 3rd the easiest with hardly no effort, but the rest are difficult.
Seems to be getting progressively worse. Is this a slave cylinder problem?

Check that the transmission oil is ok, peel back the rubber boot on the slave cyl and check for fluid, if so replace the slave, check back of master under dash for fluid leaking, if so replace master, if no sign of leaks flush and re bleed system, start here.
