Stuck in reverse

My truck's 720 five speed is stuck in reverse gear. Clutch works, but will not come out of reverse. Tried bumping the clutch but still in reverse. Any ideas what it could be?

It sounds like something has broken inside the transmission.

Here is a guide that will give you an idea on how to pull it out. You will need to put the truck on jack stands before you begin.

Hey guys, one more question. I priced a re-manufactured transmission, and it asked two or four wheel drive. Is there a difference other than gearing? Reason I asked, I have a friend that has a 2wd transmission he said I could have if it will work. Are the tail housings different and will they interchange?

Yep that are the same, just remove the tail housing of the 2wd unit and bolt it up to the transfers case.
