I need to replace stop lamp failure sensor on my car listed above (four door sedan). Where is it located? This car what you are referring to is separate from the brake light failure light directly below the little car figure which also shows doors ajar. Nothing to do with brake switch. I need to know where the Brake light sensor is located. The lights all work. The bulbs are all good same brightness. The sensor which has a printed circuit has gone bad. I have a replacement. I just need to know where it is located. Thanks

The sensor is located behind the left tail light. I cannot find any pictures of it.

It might not be the senor Have you check the brake fluid level/pads and anything leaking?

Have no references/images at this time-thought you are referring to no brake light.

Once again. It is the brake light failure sensor. Perhaps you have no knowledge of this car. There is a totally separate warning light for brakes themselves. And it is the sensor. I just need to know its location. Thanks. He warning light that you are referring to is separate on my 1994 Honda Accord. There is no issue with fluid, pads, emergency brake. It is the bulb out warning. The bulbs are all new and correct. And work, no corrosion. It is the sensor. I just need its location.

Thanks wrench tech, I found an OEM one. It says on the website I purchased it from right side. And the part number determined from VIN number shows a drawing of tail light assembly. Clearly a right hand tail light. It shows the sensor. That was why I asked. I have now concluded that the sensor does not know if it is installed on the right or left side. And therefore can be installed on whatever side the wire harness dictates. I believe that is where the right vs left confusion originates. Thus far you have been very helpful.

The wiring diagram states it is on the left side.

As I said it probably is about which side the wiring harness allows it. If I am correct. There is only one. And therefore only one side that would allow installation. And saying that only one side it could be installed at. Therefore right or left is irrelevant. Just as in a puzzle one piece cannot be put in the wrong place. I presume some of this left vs right may be due to different years or models. But if there is only one as I am told. It cannot be installed correctly anywhere but the left side. My experience with such is usually the harness connector is dedicated. Purposely so it cannot be installed wrong. At least connectors I have dealt with in the past have been this way. I believe you are correct for my make year and model. The drawing I was referring to was showing it on the right lamp assembly and not the left. Because on a different year, etc. It might be. And the illustration from parts reference just showed possible locations but not the location in this instance. Once again thanks for your input. Incidentally I have seen this part number listed as R and L. But with a dedicated connection that really does not matter.

Please see the information below from the wiring diagram and photos of the sensor.

The confusion comes in I think, because the harness routes to the right side of the trunk but the sensor is on the left side behind the taillight.

Please review this material and let us know if you have other questions. Thanks
