Car has been broken down for two months. I was driving home from a four-hour trip and had an hour left. The car felt and sounded fine. Out of nowhere I hear beeping and the dash said stop engine low oil pressure. I checked the oil, and the level was good. I started losing power and the car just shut off and now it won't start. It turns but won't start. The only code my car show is something for the intake. I only had the car a month before this happened. I'm trying to figure out what it may be before paying a towing fee to a garage.

Hi,

Was there any knocking or ticking coming from the engine before it refused to start? Also, is it possible for you to record it cranking and upload it for me to hear?

Did you check to see if there are diagnostic trouble codes that are stored in the computer which could help point us in the right direction? Here is a video showing how to retrieve codes:

Let's try something. I would like to know if the vehicle lost fuel to the engine or spark to the ignition. I would rather hear it crank to make sure there isn't a timing issue, but that's up to you. If you want to record it cranking and upload it first, I'll be watching for the reply. If you want to perform a simple test, follow this link for testing for ignition spark.

Or you can simply see if it starts for a couple of seconds if you use starting fluid. If it does, then we know it is a fuel-related issue. If there is no change, chances are it is ignition related.

Let me know what you find and if you checked for diagnostic codes. Also, if possible, record it cranking so I can hear it.

Take care,

Joe
