So the knocking sound has been faint until just recently. The white smoke/steam is also recent. Two days ago I noticed steam/smoke was coming from the engine while driving after the car warms up. Car is running slightly warmer than usual. Coolant levels are normal. No fluids under car when parked. When accelerating the knocking noise lessens. Any suggestions?? Thank you in advance!

If it is (when engine is warmed up) white smoke sweet smelling it is coolant burning.
If it is a blueish white smoke it is engine oil burning.
From your description its showing signs of a major engine issue where coolant is entering the combustion camber.
Usually, a blown head gasket will consume coolant over time and engine operating temperatures will increase.
