Starts, idles, then shuts off

Hello, me and my husband have the GTP model. Our car ran perfect, ran fine, drove fine. We already knew about the check engine light from when we bought the car. My father hooked up a scan tool to diagnose it. It came up for the EGR Valve, which we were told about when we bought it. My father then decided to clear the code, not sure what else he did. Now every time we start the car it idles for like five seconds sometimes less, then shuts off. We tried a few times to start the car, and the same thing happens, it starts, idles for a few seconds then shuts off. My husband was able to start it and drive it no problem to and from work before this. Thank you for any and all help!
