My car cut off at a red light and would not start back. Replaced fuel pump (local shop) and car ran fine for some hours then car cut off again in traffic at a red light. Replaced fuel pump again (same local shop at no cost to me) car ran fine for 2 days. Now the car hesitates to starts but once it does start and go it drives fine until I get speed (on the interstate)the car gets the "hiccups" and at red lights it trembles a bit". Is this the fuel pump again or something else? (I've had the car for 2 years and bought it from an auction. No issues with it at all until now).

Good morning,

I would have the shop do a fuel pressure test to verify the pump is working correctly.

Beyond that, I would have him check for codes. Let me know if there are any codes.

Thank you! When the car cut off the second time in traffic I had it towed to the shop (Pep Boys) and was told the replacement fuel pump was working correctly. I did see they used a Precision fuel pump from O'Reillys (not sure if it matters but I have read reviews Precision pumps are trash) so they replaced the fuel pump a second time as I requested (no charge to me so no receipt to see the brand of pump). The check engine light was on until I got the replacement pump now there is no check engine light on. Before I left the shop tho he said if the car cuts off again have it towed back and he'll replace my trunk fuse box. I'm a mom with a toddler and have little knowledge about cars so I'm not sure what's the real issue. Should I also have other things looked at such as idle valves or oxygen sensors? Or does replacing a fuse box in the trunk sound accurate since he is certain the pump isn't defective.

Did he tell you what code was set? Is it written on the receipt?

Rear fuse block? Why? What explanation did he give you for that.

I'll upload my receipt because I'm not sure what to look for! He said since the replacement pump is not defective then it may be the fuse box itself that has the issue (I don't know what that means that's just what I was told).

I totally forgot about something. When I purchased the car from auction 2 years ago it displayed the "hiccups" for a day or so and hasn't done it again until now. I did go to AutoZone when it happened 2 years ago and they said code P0463. Maybe that'll help!

I would ask them for an explanation of why they think it is the fuse block. It does not make sense at all.
