When attempting to start the car does not recognize the key fob?

I bought the car wrecked. No damage except right front wheel assembly Engine will not start the car doesn't seem to recognize the key fob when it comes time to start.
it that the BCM or some other component?

Hi,

It could be a few things. For example, the key itself, the receiver, or the ignition switch itself. What you need to do is scan the can-bus to determine if codes are stored by any of the modules on the vehicle.

CAN stands for controller area network. Basically, the different modules are tied together via a few wires. This type of scan will retrieve codes regardless of the module storing them.
