I traded for the vehicle listed above, it has the 5.7 in it it’s 4x4 it’s been sitting for 5 or so years because the owner lost the keys, so I traded for it. I popped the ignition out so I could start it with a screwdriver. It would start as long as you kept putting gas in the carburetor from a bottle. So, I ended up ordering a new key switch and a new fuel pump, I didn’t change the filter because I could blow through it. So, long story short it will start by the switch now, but it starts and shuts off.

When you try to start it does the security light flash? If so, this is why it is not running. We should run the codes as well. this guide can help:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/checking-a-service-engine-soon-or-check-engine-light-on-or-flashing

Here are the instructions for installing the new ignition key and pass lock which need to be coded to the car for the security system to work.

Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.

Is it flashing when you try to start the truck? If so, the security system is engaged. You can try this guide:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-reset-a-security-system

If that doesn't work you can try a hard reboot which is done by removing the negative side of the battery, with the cable loose from the negative side of the battery, hold it to the positive terminal for 1 minute this will discharge the memory capacitors in the BCM and PCM allowing the system to reboot.
